Tutorial: Configuring Shared Email Connection and Email Notifications with WebCenter Portal
(Doc ID 1607793.1)
Last updated on JULY 10, 2023
Applies to:
Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 11.1.1.6.0 to 11.1.1.8.3 [Release 11g]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Purpose
This document wil show you how to configure Shared Email Connection and Email Notifications with WebCenter Portal.
When you Configure Shared Email Connection you configure WebCenter to use a shared eamil account that will be used to send emails and notifications.
Some advantages of this configuration include:
- Users do not need to specify credentials when sending mails with WebCenter Portal Mail Service.
- When having many members you can reach a limit of the "Mailto" filed.
This limit varies based on the browser used, so WebCenter Portal has a hard limit of 256 characters (or 15 members).
So using shared email exposes a "To All Mail space members" check box that will allow you to send emails to all members of the Portal regardless of the number of members.
