Errors Committing to WebCenter Content 10g or 11g: "HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error" or "java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out" (Doc ID 1616204.1)

Symptoms

There is an intermittent issue committing documents to WebCenter Content Server 10g or 11g.  An error occurs committing a document and the document is not removed from the batch.  The document is later committed without issue.  After this occurs, there are duplicate entries for the same document in WebCenter Content for this document.  The error returned in the Commit Server log file may appear as:

Error Number: 40008, Error: Commit Profile - CP_UCM_CONTRATAR EMPLEADOS_COL: The following error was reported by ReleaseDocument. Error Number: 20004 Error Description: HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error

OR

Error Number: 40008, Error: Commit Profile - CP_UCM_ADMINISTRAR NOVEDADES: The following error was reported by ReleaseDocument. Error Number: 20004 Error Description: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
