WebCenter Portal Event Email Notification Contains File Attachment Called Not Supported Calendar Message.ics
(Doc ID 1633374.1)
Last updated on NOVEMBER 01, 2022
Applies to:Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 22.214.171.124.0 to 126.96.36.199.6 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
When subscribing to events in a Space, and creating a new event in the calendar, a notification email in the local MS Outlook client contains an attachment stating "not supported calendar message.ics"
This was not seen in 188.8.131.52.4 but it is seen in 184.108.40.206.6.
In 220.127.116.11.4 the email has an attached file but it is named with the created event name .ics. For example testevent.ics
The reason this was working in 18.104.22.168.4 is that we have seen in 22.214.171.124.6 the email embeds the ics data, compared to 126.96.36.199.4 which was attaching the ics file to the email.
It is only the automated notification email that has issues.
Searching online seems to indicate issues with how Outlook handles the ics data and their formatting.
It happens for all users on all PC's (Windows 7) using the same Outlook version: MS Office Outlook 2007 (12.0.6680.5000) SP3 MSO (12.0.6683.5000)
This happens for old and new Spaces so it is not specific to one Space.
