Symptoms
Followed the instructions given in the document to encrypt the service account (SSPRWEB)
4.6.1 Configuring the Password Reset Authentication and Password Reset Services
Step 2 to encrypt the credentials,
aspnet_regiis.exe -pe "system.web/identity" -app "/vgoselfservicereset/<WEBSERVICES>"
aspnet_regiis.exe -pa "NetFrameworkConfigurationKey" "IIS APPPOOL\<SSPR> AppPool"
After encrypting the credentials in the web.config, when selecting the authentication mechanisms for the /vgoselfservicereset/<WEBSERVICES> container in IIS7 Inetmgr, the following error pop-up is seen:
