Cannot Add New Metadata Field with Same Name as Recently Deleted Field (Doc ID 1640004.1)

Last updated on APRIL 11, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 11.1.1.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

You created a new metadata field as MYNEWFIELD, but did not want all caps. So you deleted it and created another field named MyNewField. You clicked Update Database Design, and now you see GCSubCategory in DocMeta table.

However, the Update Database Design button remains active, indicating changes are still outstanding. If you click the button, the Info window advises that the field MyNewField will be added, and the field MYNEWFIELD will be deleted. Even after the completion of this, the applet gives the error on attempt to close:

"The current database design is invalid".

If you do a check-in of new content via the browser, that works. But the same check-in via API call to the CHECKIN_UNIVERSAL service fails intermittently. Errors in the old CS logs are listed with CHECKIN_SEL_SUB or CHECKIN_NEW_SUB:

"Cannot find the parameter MYNEWFIELD".
