SSL certificate validation where machines have multiple NICs (Doc ID 1641592.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 02, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Sites - Version 11.1.1.8.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Many of our machines have multiple NICs and have names assigned to them like
host1.example.com
host2.example.com

Each machine may have one certificate, but the CN of the certificate will necessarily match only one machine name. Can this be relaxed?

The certificate validation taking place yields the following message in sites.log

[2013-11-07 19:11:21,718 GMT] [ERROR] [temBasedClusteredEventExecutor] [com.fatwire.logging.cs] Exception reading url from https://host1.example.com:48461/cs/ContentServer?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/Search/Event
com.fatwire.cs.core.http.HttpAccessException: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: hostname in certificate didn't match: host1.example.com != host2.example.com
