Last updated on MAY 02, 2024
Applies to:
Oracle GlassFish Server - Version 2.1.1 and laterOracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86 (32-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit)
Goal
The Solaris 10 operating system provided an installation of Message Queue. This has been deprecated and after upgrading to Solaris 10u11 and the installation of the recommended security patch cluster 01/2014 this installation is removed. This article will detail how to use a GlassFish Server's Message Queue installation to replace the Solaris supplied one and use an init.d boot script to start the broker during a machine's boot sequence. The standard Solaris installation of MQ was configured to use an init.d boot script, rather than the Service Management Framework (SMF), which is therefore outside the scope of this article.
