Folders or Personal Folders Created in WebCenter Portal Are Not Propagating To All Nodes In WebCenter Content Clustered Environment (Doc ID 1644228.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 02, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 11.1.1.6.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This problem is seen for a WebCenter Spaces application using the Document Explorer task flow.
WebCenter Content (i.e. 4 UCM Servers) is configured as a cluster.

When a user accesses a new Space and uses the Document Explorer for the first time, a new folder gets created under the 'Personal Spaces' folder in Content Server.
The folder is created on one UCM node only.
It takes a number of hours to propagate this new folder to the other three WebCenter Content nodes in the cluster.
In the meantime, the user sees errors for the Document Explorer when they  access the Space:

'Unable to access the default directory. Contact the administrator to make sure the configuration is correct ...' and the 'Retry' button.

The expected behavior would be that the folder to be recognised on all nodes immediately or at least within a very short space of time.

A standalone test for the Content Server did not show the same type of behaviour - folders created manually on one of the UCM nodes are propagated immediately to the other nodes.
