Receive NullPointerException in log when trying to edit an asset (Doc ID 1644444.1)

The issue can occur in either Admin UI or Contributor UI.

The following is seen in the sites.log (or futuretense.txt) after clicking on edit of an asset:

Other possible symptoms:

1. The screen blank out after clicking on the "Edit" button.

2. The edit form shows up but with no templates in the Template drop-down.

There is(are) typed template(s) for the asset type of the asset that is being edited.
