Last updated on DECEMBER 27, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 11.1.1.6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The purpose

In Office 2007 and higher, files can be saved as a PDF files directly.

In Office 2007 this would be done via Office button --> Save As --> PDF or Xps

In Office 2010 this would be done via File --> Save As --> Save as type --> PDF

Beginning with Webcenter Content 11.1.1.6, the Inbound Refinery can now be configured to utilize this to create PDF renditions.

When this is so configured, a postscript printer and a ghostscript distiller are no longer required.

Testing has shown that by using the Save As PDF, it creates the most accurate PDF rendition of the file.

It resolves the issue of Word documents that contain hyperlinks within tables that using the traditional print to ps --> distiller wouldn't carry over.

This How To will cover the procedures to configure the IBR to create PDF files using this funtion.
