"[LDAP: error code 49 - Invalid Credentials]" Error When Trying To Associate Reports With OID (Doc ID 1678560.1)

Symptoms

Trying to associate Reports with OID gives error:

Failed to invoke operation reassociateOID on MBean oracle.reports:Location=WLS_REPORTS,name=OIDAssociation,type=ReportsRuntimeMBean,Application=reports,ApplicationVersion=11.1.2
Supplemental Detail javax.management.MBeanException: [LDAP: error code 49 - Invalid Credentials]
at weblogic.rmi.internal.ServerRequest.sendReceive(ServerRequest.java:205)
at weblogic.rmi.internal.BasicRemoteRef.invoke(BasicRemoteRef.java:222)


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps from EM (Fusion Middleware Control):

  1. From Reports menu select Administration > Reports OID Association.
  2. The Reports OID Association Details Page is displayed.
  3. Click the Associate tab.
  4. Specify the Oracle Internet Directory Host, Oracle Internet Directory Port, Username and Password.
  5. Click OK.


For Example:

Tried entering the following credentials:

OID Host:   oidhostname
OID Port:    3060
Username:  orcladmin
Password:   ****************

or

OID Host:   oidhostname.domain.name.com
OID Port:    3060
Username:  orcladmin
Password:   ****************

Both hostname and FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) give same error.


However, the username orcladmin works using:
