Applies to:

Linux x86-64
Version 2.0.6.0.0 and later
Oracle Virtual Server(x86-64)

Symptoms

In Exalogic Virtual environments both 2.0.4.x and 2.0.6.x when system is under load issue of vServers hanging is observed. vServers which exhibit hang issue run with default MTU setting of 65520 for IPoIB interfaces and vm.min_free_kbytes.

At the time of the issue vServer which is hanging is shown as UP when running "xm list" command. But when we try to open console to vServer using "xm console" nothing happens. In some cases we get login prompt with xm console, but when logging in we do not see anything happening.

Below are "page allocation failure. order:5" error messages observed in logs at the time of the issue.

/var/log/messages or serial console may show following page allocation failure messages at the time of the issue. In some cases above error messages are captured in VM core file captured at the time of the issue.
