WebLogic Server JSESSIONID Lost when Application Uses Set-Cookie in Apache Configuration

Symptoms
The environment is as follows:
Browser -> Load Balancer -> Apache -> Two WLS Clusters running on two different Data Centers (both are active)
In order to maintain session stickiness to one Data Center, a cookie is added to the HTTP Response in the Apache http.conf file. For example:
where "<host.domain>" is the DataCenter-specific cookie that is added to the HTTP response.
With this configuration, WLS Sessions are lost. The user is redirected to the Login page for every request.
