How to Use NetManager (netmgr) Tool to Add Tnsnames Entries Containing Special or Punctuation Characters in OID? (Doc ID 1907373.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 29, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 9.0.4 and later
Oracle Net Services - Version 10.1.0.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Able to add tnsnames entries to Oracle Internet Directory (OID) with special and punctuation characters such as exclamation point (!),  period/dot (.), etc., while using other tools and command line ldap tools; for example:
TEST.US
TEST!.CA

However, unable to view, manage or add entries with those same characters using NetManager (netmgr).  For example, when creating an entry with NetManager with the period (.), this character is not shown.

The only special character that works with NetManager is underscore (_), for example:
TEST_US
TEST_CA

Since NetManager is the only tool available for other administrators to use, how to use NetManager to manage tnsnames entries containing such characters?
