High frequency publish and impact on editors (Doc ID 1909418.1)

Publishing has been configured to run with a high frequency as per business requirements. Given that editors must also work on the same assets being published, how can we reconcile the two demands and ensure that editors can continue to work on these assets whilst they are being published, without them receiving the normal -12034 error "Publish in Progress" when an asset being saved is also being published?
