Exalogic Virtual 2.0.6.X: Unable To Start vServer From EMOC On Specific Compute Node With "No switches are associated to fabric" Error (Job Not Submitted) (Doc ID 1932270.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 14, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 2.0.6.0.0 and later
Linux x86-64
Oracle Virtual Server (x86-64)

Symptoms

In Exalogic Virtual releases 2.0.6.X issue of unable to start guest VM's from EMOC console is observed.

Whenever we try to start the vServer from EMOC, the job submission itself fails with "Failed to create job" pop up.

This happens when vServer is being placed on the Particular Compute Node(s) which is affected.

However startup vServers on the affected compute node(s) succeeds when using "xm create" command. Upon successful startup they are shown as UP in EMOC and OVMM BUI's.

When we bring down the affected Compute Node(s) and blacklist it we do not see the issue. vServer startup succeeds from EMOC as the vServers are placed on other non problematic Compute Nodes.

Following is the error message seen in cacao.job at the time of the issue.
