By default, Fusion Middleware 11gR1 ( includes the Oracle JDBC Driver version For an installation with Oracle Portal 11g, the JDBC driver version can be verified from the WLS_PORTAL.log file :

####<Aug 30, 2014 5:58:14 PM CEST> <Info> <JDBC> <> <WLS_PORTAL1> <DmsThread-1> <> <> <0000KWazcf8Fg4WFLzqIOA1K0SdF000002> <1409414294226> <BEA-001517> <Data source connection pool "PortletDS" using Driver: "Oracle JDBC driver", Version: "".>

There may be reasons to upgrade this version to a later release, e.g. to match the driver with the version of the Portal metadata repository database. This document provides instructions to upgrade the JDBC driver to release 11.2.
