Node Manager Windows Services Startup Fails With Error "Unable to load ...\jvm.dll" After WLS Software Upgrade (Doc ID 1952981.1)

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 10.3 and later
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) - Version: 2008 R2
Issue can also occur on upgrade of other Weblogic versions such as 10.3.4 to 10.3.5.
Issue has also been reported on upgrade to 12.2.1.1.

Symptoms

Starting Node Manager Windows Service fails with the below error:


Able to start Node Manager using the command line without issue.

Changes

WebLogic Server (WLS) was upgraded from 10.3.2 to 10.3.6
The Node Manager Windows Service was working in 10.3.2 prior to the upgrade.
After upgrading to 10.3.6, the service failed to start.
