Tuxedo tpabort() API Returns Before Actual Rollback End On Resource Manager Side (Doc ID 1954048.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 19, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Tuxedo - Version 6.5 to 12.1.3
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Currently the tpabort() just send message to TMS and it does not wait for reply from TMS (so from resource manager involved).

This means that when tpabort() finishes the TMS may not have time to actually rollback the transaction.

In the Tuxedo 12cR2 (12.1.3) documentation around tpabort():

"tpabort() signifies the abnormal end of a transaction. When this call returns, all changes made to resources during the transaction are undone."

In fact tpabort() documentation needs to be enhanced to better explain the behavior.
