OID 10g: Creating New Realm in OIDDAS Results in an Incorrect Realm DN, e.g.: dc=<DOMAIN2>,dc=<DOMAIN1>,dc=com Instead of the Desired dc=<DOMAIN2>,dc=com
(Doc ID 1955556.1)
Last updated on NOVEMBER 04, 2019
Applies to:
Oracle Internet Directory - Version 10.1.2 to 10.1.4 [Release 10gR2 to 10gR3]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 10g, e.g., 10.1.4.3, integrated with Oracle Single Sign-On (OSSO) and Delegated Administrative Sevices (DAS or OIDDAS).
Scenario:
Existing default realm DN is dc=<COUNTRY>,dc=<DOMAIN1>,dc=com, i.e., a three level container.
Need to build a new realm but a two level container DN of dc=<DOMAIN2>,dc=com.
When going into the OIDDAS Realm Management section, it only allows to add a short name of the new realm, and entering xyz as desired, it then creates the realm within the previous/default realm root, with the incorrect three level container DN of:
dc=<DOMAIN2>,dc=<DOMAIN1>,dc=com
Instead of the desired two level DN of:
dc=<DOMAIN2>,dc=com
Note: Reviewed Document 1930858.1 (How to Create a New Context in OID 10g for Tnsnames Resolution?), however as noted therein, that procedure is not sufficient as it does not create a true realm that can work with SSO/OIDDAS.
