Error starting OWSM after upgrading to 12c, 'NullPointerException', and the wsm-pm application fails to start

After upgrading an 11g domain running OWSM to 12c, you start seeing the following error in the OWSM server log after the second startup and the wsm-pm application will not start.
Of note is that there was a custom trust keystore configured in EM 11g some time prior to the upgrade.
The issue is OWSM specific and will impact any domain using it, regardless of the other products deployed. (like SOA)
