WebLogic 11g Fails To Compile JSP with Taglib (Doc ID 1962389.1)

Last updated on APRIL 09, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 10.3.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

 With WLS 10.3.6, when precompiling a Taglib as below:

<test:substring INPUT="A3eeerrerr0000ef" STarT="2" END="6" retCode="retCode1"/>

the following JSP compilation error is seen:

Compilation of JSP File '/tag.jsp' failed:

tag.jsp:18:1: retCode1 cannot be resolved
retCode1="hello";
^-----^
tag.jsp:22:4: retCode1 cannot be resolved
<%=retCode1%>
  ^-----^

The same JSP compilation works fine for WLS 8.1:

SUBSTR(GOODMORNING, 1, 6) is tCod asfda=====asdfaf=f

retcode: hello
eeer

 After modify the code to:

<test:substring INPUT="A3eeerrerr0000ef" STarT="2" END="6" retcode="retCode1"/>

WLS 10.3.6 works:

SUBSTR(GOODMORNING, 1, 6) is tCod asfda=====asdfaf=f

retcode: hello
eeer

Changes

 Upgrade from weblogic 8.1 to 10.3.6
