Replicat Tries to Reposition Itself in a Trail File That Has Been Purged and Abends with Error OGG-01029

Symptoms
You are using Goldengate 11.2.1.0.13 against Oracle 10.2.0.5.0 on AIX and a replicat abends trying to position itself in a trail file that has just been purged.
Messages in ggserr.log are -
