How To Reset an ODI Wallet Password Without the Existing Password (Doc ID 1982522.1)

Last updated on MARCH 18, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Data Integrator - Version 11.1.1.9.0 and later
Oracle Data Integrator on Marketplace - Version 12.2.1.4.200123 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Prior to logging into Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Studio for the first time, create a login name for which ODI login credentials are specified.

These credentials include ODI user name and password, and also the ODI Master Repository database user name and password.

ODI can save these credentials in either an encrypted login XML file or a password-protected Wallet.

Note: By default, they are saved in a password-protected Wallet.

As shown in the documentation, resetting the Wallet password through ODI Studio UI requires to enter the old password first:

Using a Password-Protected Wallet for Storing Login Credentials
12.2.1.4: https://docs.oracle.com/en/middleware/fusion-middleware/data-integrator/12.2.1.4/odiad/managing-security-oracle-data-integrator.html#GUID-AAE74510-E701-405F-8C46-C29AE152BA6F
12.2.1.1: https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/12211/odi/administer-develop/security.htm#ODIAD1775

A user who has Wallet passwords currently enabled cannot simply disable Wallet passwords.

When deselecting preference "ODI > User Interface > Save Login Credentials into Wallet", a "Enter Wallet Password" dialog is shown.

This means the user who forgot the wallet password cannot reset Wallet passwords and drop all stored passwords.

How to reset the Wallet password if forgotten?
