Contributor Data Files (CDF) are the actual content items which shows the body  / text / images for the display part of a Site . This item can be created by launching the Contributor region from the site itself (by designated authors) or can be created from Webcenter Content server UI  . 

To create it from WCC , users navigate to Content Management - Check In New Web Asset , select the specific site (optional) and from the available list of Region Definitions (RD) use one to create a new CDF. This same action can be accomplished programmatically .

This article gives the steps and sample code to achieve the above requirement using RIDC.
