SQL Error When Approving an Asset with Dependencies: ORA-00904: "STATUS": invalid identifier (Doc ID 1993951.1)

In Contributor UI when trying to approve an asset using the "Approve With Dependencies" button an onscreen error is received

An exception occurred on the server while executing
IllegalStateException: Thread [ACTIVE[
ExecuteThread: '6' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default
(self-tuning)' has not acquired a connection but
attempting to release one.. If problem persists please
contact the system administrator.

And an exception is seen in sites.log:

2015-03-19 11:40:01,352 CET] [DEBUG] [.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] [fatwire.logging.cs.db] SQL for PreparedStatement select id from Publication where id=? and status != 'VO'

java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00904: "STATUS": invalid identifier

The asset does not get approved.
