WebCenter Content (WCC) with MS SQL Server Database Negative <NOT> Search Generates Error: Unable to Retrieve Search Results. Error Occurred While Processing. (Doc ID 2006280.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 21, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 11.1.1.8.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After upgrading to WCC 11.1.1.8, search that includes a metadata field with the "NOT MATCHES" logical operator throws an error :

Unable to retrieve search results. Error occurred while processing. Unable to return results. Encountered an exception while executing a query.

The URL shows:

idcplg?IdcService=GET_SEARCH_RESULTS&QueryText=+(xSubject++`Personnel`)++(xSubject+%3D+``)&searchFormType=standard&SearchQueryFormat=UNIVERSAL&ftx=&AdvSearch=True&folderChildren=&ResultCount=20&SortField=dInDate&SortOrder=Desc

The "++(xSubject+%3D+``)" part of the search string as added automatically.   If this is taken out, the search works as expected.

This happens with other metadata fields as well.
