Golden Gate Configuration, How To Delete Archive Logs From Downstream Database (Doc ID 2011174.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 28, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle GoldenGate - Version 12.1.2.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

GG version - 12.1.0.2.0
Downstream database version - 12.1.0.2.0

Settings for archive destination in source database:

log_archive_dest_6 string SERVICE="NAME1", ASYNC NORE
  GISTER REOPEN=300 DB_UNIQUE_NA
  ME="NAME1", VALID_FOR=(ONLI
  NE_LOGFILES,PRIMARY_ROLE)

Have a problem with the archive logs, which are received on the downstreams database. They are currently not being deleted automatically and this has to be done manually on some intervals. Oracle does not see them and cannot be managed from RMAN.

Is there any solution out there, which will help to create some kind of housekeeping job for these archive logs. May be to register them somehow with the downstreams database and therefore to be managed by backup jobs or something else.
