Oracle API Gateway Java Crashes With SEGV_MAPERR signal (Doc ID 2017826.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 07, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle API Gateway - Version 11.1.2.3.0 to 11.1.2.3.0 [Release 11gR1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 11.1.2 version, Oracle API Gateway

An Oracle API Gateway instance periodically crashes.  Each crash produces an hs_err_pid log file in the instance directory with a thread dump from Java.  The server has plenty of available free memory when the crashes occur, and the heap information in the dump indicates the heap has free memory. Time between failure can vary from days to hours.

This particular Oracle API Gateways is used for only one Mobile application at this time, and what was noticed is that when large files are being downloaded, and connection issues arise where the connection gets dropped and reconnected, enough of these issues will cause the failure in the Gateway. Larger responses and increased frequency of client failures increase the likelihood of the crash occurring.
