Site Studio Publisher Task Fails with Error "Failed To Load Old Crawl State" (Weblogic Managed Server Out of Memory Issue) (Doc ID 2036140.1)

On : WebCenter Content Server version 11.1.1.8.9 (11.1.1.8 with Bundle Patch 9):

A Site Studio Publisher task is failing with the error: "LOAD LINKSMAP: java.io.EOFException: null Failed to load old crawl state." The only way to recover from this error is by deleting and recreating the task, but the issue eventually returns.

The user noticed also that if the task is recreated without deleting the output folder, the new task immediately fails with the same error: "LOAD LINKSMAP: java.io.EOFException: null Failed to load old crawl state." If the output folder is deleted, the delete fails because the folder is locked by another program. It seems that Java has the log file of the failed task open and the OS will not let us delete or rename the file until we reboot the server.

When task fails, the log file that the task never completes and that the log output always stops at the same point:
