How to Install Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) Without Installing the ORDS Schemas (ORDS_PUBLIC_USER and ORDS_METADATA)
Last updated on JULY 06, 2017
Applies to:Oracle Application Express (formerly HTML DB) - Version 4.2.1 and later
Oracle REST Data Services - Version 3.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
The goal is to install and configure ORDS without being prompted to install the ORDS schemas (ORDS_PUBLIC_USER and ORDS_METADATA).
The default installation/configuration of ORDS 3.0.X assumes the ORDS schemas will be installed. Installing these schemas requires that the ORDS schema installation steps be accomplished by a user with SYSDBA privileges.
The ORDS schemas are not required for APEX usage. These schemas are only needed if one wishes to use Oracle RESTful Web Services outside of APEX.
