Deleting An Asset In Workflow By REST API Is Not Removing/updating Entries From Workflow Tables. (Doc ID 2084587.1)

Symptoms

When deleting an asset via REST API, the asset is deleted but is not removed from workflow, stale records are left behind in WorkflowObjects and Assignment table.
In Contributor UI assignments widget, deleted assets can still be seen and are not able to be removed, as the asset itself is deleted.
