Additional Files are getting created under Applications Folder while deploying an application from WLS 12.2.1 console (Doc ID 2107061.1)

When an application is deployed in WLS 12.2.1 few files are getting created in the application folder.

Example :

Domain_Home -> </path/to/directory>/
Application_Home -> </path/to/directory>/applications

Application is placed in Application_Home and deployed via WLS 12.2.1 console.

After, deployment additional files are created under "<application_home>" -> META-INF folder -> .WL_internal.

The file sizes are zero. Why do these files get created and what is the use ?
