OVD 11g Adapter For Backend LDAP Server Not Showing Any Entries in ODSM Client View or Adapter View (Doc ID 2107276.1)

Symptoms

Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 11g.

There is an existing environment (env) of older slightly versions where everything works.

In the new env, ldap adapters are created in OVD via Oracle Identity Manager (OIM) integration scripts, using the oimAdminUser as the bind dn in the adapter to the backend ldap server.

However, OVD cannot see any data under the Adapter neither in Client View or Adapter View in Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) when expanding the trees.

Via command line ldapsearch, only a couple entries are visible.  Not even the entry for the authenticating oimAdminUser itself is displayed.

Creating a brand new ldap adapter using default templates does not resolve the problem.
