SOA sync processes time out with a database error, 'ORA-02049: timeout: distributed transaction waiting for lock' (Doc ID 2125950.1)

Symptoms

On : 11.1.1.7.0 version, SOA Fusion Apps

The issue was discovered when using an out of the box Fusion composite when  executing a synchronous invoke within an asynchronous BPEL process .... the following error occurs.

ERROR

 The following error is reported when viewing the Composite Instance from Enterprise Manager (EM).

Note: This error is recoverable from the Fusion Applciation Workbench - i.e. the Composite Instance is NOT in a critical/non-recoverable state.

An error is reported in the SOA log files:

SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-02049: timeout: distributed transaction waiting for lock
