When Creating a Rule in AMC v2.2 with the DRS Tool Only the Major Version of the Product Is Displayed (Doc ID 2134814.1)

Last updated on MARCH 31, 2023

Applies to:

Java SE JDK and JRE - Version 8 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When creating a rule set in the Deployment Rule Set (DRS) tool of the Advanced Management Console (AMC) version 2.2, you can specify both a major and minor product version, e.g. 1.8.0_35.  However, after the rule is created, only the major version is exported to the rule set or displayed in the DRS tool, e.g. 1.8.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Go to the AMC web console, e.g. https://XXX/AMCwebui/
  2. Enter Credentials & Click <Login>
  3. Click <Rule Sets>
  4. Click <Run Deployment Rule Set Tool>
  5. Wait.
  6. Enter Credentials & Click <Login>
  7. Click <Rules>
  8. Click <(+) New Rule>
  9. Populate form
    1. On Rule-Action choose "run" or "force-run"
    2. On Version choose product and type desired java version (e.g. 1.8.0_92)
    3. Click <Edit>

Once the rule is saved, the problem becomes evident.  When the rule is viewed in the DRS tool or extracted from a DRS jar file, only the major version is listed, e.g. 1.8, rather than the full major and minor version that is expected.
