Are Shared Assets Owned by a Parent Site? (Doc ID 2137480.1)

Last updated on JULY 07, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Sites - Version 7.6.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Once asset types are enabled on multiple site instances, a user can create an asset of that asset type and share it to 1 or more sites on the same Sites instance.

Q1:  Is that asset still owned by the original site?

Q2:  Are there duplicate instances of that asset in the database?

For example, in Avisports you have the AVIImage asset type.  It is enabled to be used on the FirstSiteII sample site.  In the Contributor UI for Avisports, you then create an image asset, name MyImage, of the AVIImage asset type. Once saved, MyImage is then shared to the FirstSiteII.  Is MyImage owned and controlled by the Avisports Site and must be managed and only managed by Avisports? Are there duplicate instances of that MyImage asset in the database?
