Last updated on MAY 22, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Reports Developer - Version 12.2.1.0.0 to 12.2.1.2.0 [Release 12c to 12.2]
Oracle Forms for OCI - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Multi-Byte Arabic characters are wrapped and moved to next line for Oracle Reports generated on 12c environments. This issue is observed for reports generated on Unix platforms.

Likewise 11gR2 reports, 12c takes advantage of REPORTS_ENHANCED_FONTHANDLING parameter and issue occurs when this parameter is set as REPORTS_ENHANCED_FONTHANDLING=YES.

Issue occurs to both In-process and StandAlone report servers.

This behaviour is observed on reports generated as PDF with subsetting, HTML, HTMLCSS, and RTF. This issue is not displayed when using DESFORMAT as DELMITED, SPREADSHEET, ENHANCEDSPREADSHEET.

Example: Sample Arabic PDF text will look like below

Changes

Installed Oracle Reports 12c in Unix platform. Enable PDF subsetting feature.

Enable parameter REPORTS_ENHANCED_FONTHANDLING=YES in reports.sh file.
