Symptoms

After upgrading to JDeveloper 12c from JDeveloper 11g, the following validation errors are observed, when the value of af:inputText is either null or empty, even though required=false is set.

  af:validateDoubleRange : "The value must be a number."
  af:validateLongRange : "Enter a whole number."
