CAS Login Will Only Route To The Same Node in a WebLogic Clustered Environment Despite Proper Load Balancer and Web Server configurations (Doc ID 2189807.1)

Symptoms

URL is routed to the same cluster node for each request instead of load balancing to other cluster members.  For example, there is the following configuration:

LB --> 3 Web Servers --> 5 Sites Nodes

• Load Balancer is configured correctly
• Web Servers are configured correctly, including the rewrite rules
• CAS configurations are setup correctly for the clustered Sites instances

Symptom:  Attempt to access www.example.com, client is redirected to Sites Node 1.  Even when Sites Node 1 is shutdown, then any attempt to access www.example.com, client is still redirected to Sites Node 1 but receives a 404 error and NOT the expected Request Timed Out error.
