Oracle Java SE Is Now Available in Separate MOS Downloads for JDK, JRE, and Server JRE

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Effective with the October 2016 Critical Patch Update (CPU) and Patch Set Update (PSU) release, the delivery of Java SE on MOS is being enhanced. After reviewing customer feedback, it's been determined that having the option of selecting individual components for download will better serve the most common use cases.
What is changing:
Previously, the Oracle JDK Archive Patch offered all components: JDK, JRE, and when applicable, server JRE, in a single, large download. Effective with the October 2016 CPU/PSU, the different components are split into separate downloads. There will now be individual Archive Patches for the JDK, the JRE, and where available, the Server JRE bundle.
Examples of the change on selected platforms (example data only) is represented below:
This change affects:
MOS Archive Patches, including CPU, PSU and Bundled Patch Release (BPR) patches for:
- Oracle Java SE 8u111/8u112 and higher
- Oracle Java SE 7u121 and higher
- Oracle Java SE 6u131 and higher
Note: MOS Archive patches are available from document All Java SE Downloads on MOS (Doc ID 1439822.1).
This change does not affect:
MOS Well-Known Patches:
- Patch 18143322: Oracle JDK 1.8.0
- Patch 13079846: Oracle JDK 1.7.0
- Patch 9553040: Oracle JDK 1.6.0
