Multiple Errors After Upgrading ODI 11g to 12.2.1 in Compatibility Mode (Doc ID 2203675.1)

Symptoms

After many attempts to upgrade from Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 11g to 12.2.1.1 finally achieved a successful upgrade using Upgrade Assistant (UA) but there are errors and strange behaviors in ODI Studio afterward:

Error while clicking any Technology in Topology -> java.lang.NullPointerException
When running any load with existing Context, the logs are shown in the 11g Operator instead of 12c Operator
There are multiple errors in the UA log

The goal was to keep 11g compatibility and without upgrading the KMs since there are customizations.

During the upgrade the option to keep the KMs was selected.
