Log Files Rotated by Node Manager Are Not Closed By The File Handler
(Doc ID 2237877.1)
Last updated on JUNE 11, 2024
Applies to:
Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 12.1.3.0.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
<server_name>.out files rotated by nodemanager are seen to have a lock on them and are not getting closed by the file handler.
This can be seen by running the lsof command which will show something similar to the following:
In the example above <server_name>.outxxx files are still open by NodeManager and cannot be deleted.
The problem with this behavior is, that if the rotated out files were deleted manually, they don't free the space on the file system until the WebLogic process is stopped and eventually closes its file handles.
