Cannot Start OHS 12c with Node Manager: "Error occurred while performing nmConnect : Cannot connect to Node Manager. : General SSLEngine problem (Doc ID 2238268.1)

Symptoms

Trying to start OHS with DOMAIN_HOME/bin/startComponent.sh, fails with the following error:

 

 
Due to the above error/exception, the Oracle HTTP Server component (I.e. ohs1) cannot be started.

Changes

Can occur after adding custom identity and custom trust Java keystore configuration to NodeManager.
Or the NodeManager certificate has expired
Or NodeManager listener is using common name without a matching certificate
