How To Refresh ODI 12c Component-Style (Built-in) Knowledge Modules (Doc ID 2269680.1)

Goal

Prior to Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.2.1.4.0, the patching process does not automatically update the component-style (built-in) Knowledge Modules (KMs).

In such a case, or simply when changes are made to them for any 12c version, how can the component-style (built-in) KMs be refreshed manually?
