ODI 12c Allows Generation of Scenarios from a Package Without Error Even Though It Contains Invalid Mappings (Doc ID 2277692.1)

Symptoms

In Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), when a corrupted or invalid mapping is part of a package a scenario can still be generated from it.
Running the scenario results in wrong data, since it contains an invalid mapping.

As expected, a scenario cannot be generated from the mapping itself.  This should likewise be expected also in case where the packages contains such an invalid mapping but it does not.

One way to reproduce:

  1. Login to ODI Studio
  2. Go to a mapping that cannot be validated
  3. Include the mapping in a package
  4. Create a scenario from the package
    => This is successful
  5. Attempt to run the scenario
