How to Configure Forms to Display Network Latency (Doc ID 2286831.1)

Last updated on MAY 31, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Forms - Version 11.1.2.2.0 and later
Oracle Forms for OCI - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Because Oracle Forms requires a persistent connection, delays in information exchanges in higher latency networks will increase the chance of disconnects.

There is no documented “bad” latency number but, of course, the lower the number the better.  Additionally, there is a point where the delay would be unacceptable and cause timeouts and disconnects.

The latency experienced by a Forms client can be displayed in the Form by making a few configuration changes.
