Goal

Oracle Access Manager 11g R2PS3 (OAM 11.1.2.3) Multi Data Center (MDC) Questions for Certificate Mode Configuration Between the WebGates and Access Servers

The purpose of this note is to provided clarity on issues that may arise when setting up an MDC environment to use Certificate Mode communication

Example Environment

2 servers in Data Center (DC1) with hostname <OAM1_DC1_HOSTNAME> and <OAM2_DC1_HOSTNAME>

2 servers in Data Center (DC2) with hostname <OAM1_DC2_HOSTNAME> and <OAM2_DC2_HOSTNAME>

Example Questions

1. Can we generate one certificate for one DC and copy the same to other DC will that work?

2. What should be the Common Name to be entered while Generating a Certificate Request and Private Key for OAM Server?

3. While creating Certificate Request for WebGate, what should be the Common Name to be used. Is it the hostname of OAM Server or hostname of the Webserver where an agent is deployed?

Again what should be the Common Name if a single agent profile is shared by 2 WebGate instances?
