WebCenter Enterprise Capture 12C Client Results Displays Error "ice.driver.ImageCaptureDriverException" When Selecting Cancel on the "No Paper" Message Dialog (Doc ID 2290721.1)

Symptoms

While testing the WebCenter Enterprise Capture client (12C), a new anomaly was encountered that was unlike the 11g Capture client. The environment contains the Fujitsu scanner with the latest Paper Stream IP driver.   When there is no paper in the scanner and Capture is selected, a pop-up message appears:

No Paper on ADF paper chute or Hopper.

Retry and Cancel.

When selecting "Retry", it retries to scan as expected. However, when selecting "Cancel" there is an exception:

This was not the behavior with the same exact scanner/driver in the 11g Capture Client.  When selecting "Cancel" in 11g, it would just cancel the scan, as expected.   Why is this different in the 12c Capture client?
