Exalogic Linux Physical Compute Node Base Image Patching Failed When Upgrading to July 2017 PSU (Doc ID 2300228.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 14, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 2.0.6.3.170718 to 2.0.6.3.170718
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

In Exalogic Linux Physical rack running Jan 2017 PSU, as part of upgrade to July 2017 PSU Compute Node Base Image patching script hangs and eventually fails during upgrade process.

The Compute Node itself gets rebooted as part of the patching and the imageinfo command correctly shows the July 2017 PSU version.  However, when CheckSwProfile is ran, it shows that there are multiple RPMs missing, which were supposed to be upgraded as part of PSU. Below is snippet of CheckSwProfile command output from Compute Node where July 2017 PSU upgrade was attempted.

Changes

Applying July 2017 Linux Physical PSU.
